THE COURT ROOM
The Court Room was used as the Magistrates Court
until 1987 becoming Oundle Museum in
2000. The exhibits in this room tell the story of Oundle and the
surrounding region's history from prehistoric times to the present.
Permanent exhibits include archaeological finds from local excavations,
models of the market place and railway station and items from the Smiths
Brewery which was a major industry in the town until the 1960's.

THE THEME ROOM
This room contains exhibits associated with our chosen theme. The theme
changes each year so there is always something new to see at the Museum.

THE BARN
Originally the back yard for the police
station house attached to the Courthouse, 'The Barn' has
recently been refurbished. The Barn now displays the many farm
tools and implements we have in our collection, dating mainly
from the early 20th Century but with many from the Victorian
Era. Also on display is a collection of a local carpenter's
equipment which has been beautifully restored.

ROMAN HANDLING BOXES
The Museum has five Roman handling boxes
which are available for hire to schools. They are housed
at Oundle and Kings Cliffe Middle School (in Oundle) and cost
£10 per box for a half term or £5 per box for a week. The
five boxes contain: bones, pottery, building materials, everyday
life (mostly replicas) and archaeology. Each box has
information about its contents and worksheets (for teachers to
photocopy if desired) and various booklets about life in Roman
Britain. All the items are of Roman date (except for the
replicas) and were found in Northamptonshire. Please go to
our contact page to get in touch if you would like to borrow
them.
